HORROR HOOTENANNY 13 Questions with CALICO COOPER

The Horror Hootenanny is Tomorrow (Saturday!).
And today Dr. Ganrene has 13 Questions for CALICO COOPER of BEASTO BLANCO!

1. Name and weapon of choice in the band:
Calico Cooper, weapon of choice: Calico Cooper

2. Favorite movie monster?
The queen alien in ALIENS. I can relate. She's a big part of my stage persona, I'd be lying if I said she wasn't my spirit animal and coincidently the screen saver on my phone. Which is the highest form of flattery in my book.

3. Best horror movie you've seen recently?
IT. It was like "stand by me" with a demon clown. Which is the only thing you could have to done to improve the perfection that is "stand by me".

 4. Remakes: Yes or No?
Yes - As long as there reimagined. They aren't often done well, but when they are it tickles me pink.

 5. What bands inspired you to play music?
Theatrical bands. I get inspired when someone takes the time to put on a show. But there is a little emo kid hiding inside of me and when I hear amazing singer songwriter stuff I get really inspired. People like butch walker, Melissa Etheridge, John legend. I'm in. If I miss my exit on the freeway cuz I'm belting out "all of me" I'm not even mad about it.

 6. What do you like to do when not playing music?
I'm an actor all the rest of the time. Keeping that particular career of choice going is pretty time consuming. So free time? Probably cooking shows.... ya, cooking shows.

 7. Munsters or Addams Family?
Addams Family

 8. Favorite song to play live?
Breakdown - we play that song at the end of our set and I give it everything I've got left.

 9. Favorite moment on stage/tour?
We broke down once in the Czech Republic in our way to the show. It took 4 hours for someone to come to our rescue in the snow storm so we walked to a gas station and got hammered on red wine at 11 am. Looking back that bad day wasn't all that bad.

 10. Misfits, Ramones, or Cramps?
Misfits

11. Pet peeves?
Two things. Talking in movies and when people and people that abuse the word "LITERLLY". It LITERALLY drives me insane. LITERALLY.

12. Favorite Halloween memory?
My dad chased me into a cactus dressed as Chuckie the murder doll. I have scars.

13. What would you like to have written on your tombstone when all is said and done?
 I told you so.

HORROR HOOTENANNY 13 Questions with JEANO ROID COFFINBERRY

THE HORROR HOOTENANY is days away!
Dr. Gangrene's 13 Questions rolls on..
Today's victim is JEANO ROID from THE CREEPING CRUDS!

Name and weapon of choice in the band:
Jeano Roid Coffinberry. That's my real name and I play horrific guitar in The Creeping Cruds.

Favorite movie monster?
Frankenstein, the Monster. He didn't ask to be ugly. I feel a kindred spirit..

Best horror movie you've seen recently?
Watched The Curse of Frankenstein the other night. Such a great flick.

Remakes: Yes or No?
Up til 83 or so (The Thing), yes. All those Hammer films were technically remakes. That's the best horror out there. But all these current remakes are simply shite. Evil Dead remake was a turd as were all the slashy 80's characters being redone in the past 20 years. Not fun, not entertaining. Just bad.

What bands inspired you to play music?
The Ramones, The Cramps, Alice Cooper, BOC, Turbonegro, Forbidden Dimension. You know, the good bands.

What do you like to do when not playing music?
I make monsters and mess around with bulldogs. Friends are good too.

Munsters or Addams Family?
Both

Favorite song to play live?
Salem is a fun riff. And I'm sure people don't know what to make of it. It's just rock n roll y'know..

Favorite moment on stage/tour?
Always simply watching Handsome Jimmy. He is the most entertaining bass player in rock n roll.
That fuckin' goof.

Misfits, Ramones, or Cramps?
Ramones, Cramps (close 2nd) then Misfits.

Pet peeves?
I hate when pets peeve on my carpet.

Favorite Halloween memory?
Way too many to narrow down to one. It's been a lifetime love affair. I do a yard haunt every year, which is featured on my Jeano Roid Flickr page. If you can figure out where I am you are invited to come check it out.

What would you like to have written on your tombstone when all is said and done?
Put your ear to the ground. Thats me knocking?

HORROR HOOTENANNY 13 Questions with META DEAD

THE HORROR HOOTENANY is days away!
Dr. Gangrene's 13 Questions rolls on..
Today's victim is META DEAD from THE DEAD DEADS!

Name and weapon of choice in the band:
Meta Dead, Pawnshop Supersonic Sparkly Orange Guitar from Space, and super-squeaky voice-box of Doom.

Favorite movie monster?
If aliens are considered monsters, which, I believe they can be, my favorite are Tim Burton’s martians in Mars Attacks.  I could not love them more.  If aliens are not monsters, then Mogwai/Gremlins.

Best horror movie you've seen recently?
Get Out

Remakes: Yes or No?
Yes, because I’m a special effects geek, so even though I appreciate old school effects and esthetic, I have just as much of a soft spot for psycho-looking remakes!  If it can benefit visually—I’m in.  I’d like to see a remake of They Live or Brainscan.

What bands inspired you to play music?
The Beatles, Melvins, They Might Be Giants, Weezer, sElf, and all of my friends’ bands.

What do you like to do when not playing music?
Punching bees.  But when there are no bees around, I like going to see shows, writing apocalyptic science fiction or pop philosophy and I love exploring in the outdoors.  I also like working around the house painting, fixing it up, or leaving town on a weird vision quest in a new city.

Munsters or Addams Family?
Addams all the way—more twisted.

Favorite song to play live?
Whatever the fans are yelling out to hear or maybe “Nothing Will Be Fine.”

Favorite moment on stage/tour?
Too many tour moments to name one.  On stage in general, all the times I sang a duet with Lzzy Hale.

Misfits, Ramones, or Cramps?
I like the Cramps and the Misfits about equally.  If I had to pick, I’d go with Misfits.  SKULLS!

Pet peeves?
Being underestimated or wrongly judged, drama for drama’s sake, mushrooms and onions masquerading as delicious.

Favorite Halloween memory?
Halloween Dress-up Karaoke

What would you like to have written on your tombstone when all is said and done?
Here lies Meta—loving wife, daughter and bee-puncher.
